The Improv
The Improv offers young jazzsters the opportunity to encounter jazz firsthand. Through hands-on experiences with musical activities including the creation of their own musical note puppet and found object instrumentation, guests are introduced to a musical genre that enriches their lives.

Instrument Petting Zoo
The Music Center of Kirkwood
The Jazz Festival and The Music Center of Kirkwood are partnering to bring instrumental experiences to children of all ages. Well-loved (and well-used) trombones, guitars, saxophones, trumpets, flutes, violins and an array of percussion instruments will be found in The Improv’s Instrument Petting Zoo.

Found Object Instrumentation
The Magic House will help you create your own instruments from found objects! Learn how to turn everyday items into your own musical instrument.

Musical Puppets
The St. Louis Puppet Guild will guide you in the creation of your very own musical 'note' puppet.
